  1. Hi Steve, i just read both your McGregor mower review and now this Spear and Jackson review and I want to send a quick note to say a BIG thanks for outlining both of your reviews which I have really enjoyed reading. I came across the spear jackson brand earlier and the corded and cordless models here look exceptional. My aunt will have to decide whichever one she wants and I have forwarded your link to her so she can check through herself. Thanks for the help and wish us luck!

    • Of course – best of luck to you both with your chosen model under the Spear & Jackson brand and thanks a million for taking the time to stop by and leave your feedback, Take care, Steve

  2. I have learned a lot today from reading your detailed review – I had so many problems with other mowers in the past few years, this brand looks to be well suited for my needs especially the corded and smaller models that have the lowest price. My only hope is that it will be a very long-lasting lawn mower which can deal with heavy grass from time to time as I cannot get around every week to mow the grass in time. Just wanted to express my feedback after reading this review and to be fair these prices are not high from what I have seen already.

    • Yes, these prices do compare very well across the industry and they offer the extended warranty if there are any issues. Thanks also for taking the time to stop by and for expressing your feedback, Take care, Steve.

  3. Hi Steve, In fact, l has been looking for a reliable lawnmower to replace my old broken-down lawnmower and lucky l have stumbled upon your review today! I have gone through all the Spear & Jackson lawnmowers’ pros and cons. I found that the Spear & Jackson S4037CR 37cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower 40V is best suited to my needs as I really dislike the idea of cables. I have checked the product at Argos and the new price is only £180.00 which is a great buy as many other cordless mowers that I have seen are priced a lot higher than this

  4. Thank you for this amazing post about Spear Jackson mowers and including so many!. Information like this is really vital for quality garden keeping and this Spear and Jackson lawn mower brand is one of the best brands in the UK today. They also offer some of the better prices that I have seen. Good range outlined and makes the whole selection process a hell of a lot easier so cheers for providing me with your review

  5. Fantastic info and so easy to compare them all on one page instead of hopping from several pages to the next. It is presented so clearly and I didn’t realise Spear and Jackson stocked such an extensive range – that is an eye opener and gives tons of options to choose from, thank you and I just wanted to write a quick note to express a word of thanks to help me with my selection. Spring is just around the corner and lots to do in the garden and a reliable lawn mower will be first on my list of things to get!

  6. Hi Steve! it must have taken a long time to get through all of these 8 lawn mowers from Spear and Jackson. Personally, I have been using this brand for the past 3 years and to be honest I have little to no problems at all and they do a good job of collecting all the clipping after the work is done. The best one for me has been the 32cm wide corded rotary which also has the best price and I can certainly recommend this for anyone else here in the UK

  7. Hi. I have bought a S&J 1600W 37cm Corded mower. It seems to really struggle with moss on the lawn – will not go all through to the bag, keeps jamming the blade and leaves piles of cut moss behind the mower.. Is this normal?

    • Personally I find moss a nightmare to deal with! If it gets out of hand, then any mower even petrol powered lawn mowers will struggle with them. I used a Toro twin blade mower a few weeks back and even that struggled with the level of moss I had. So, if the moss is out of control, then it would be normal. For dealing with my own moss problem, I sprayed the entire area with Sulphate of Iron and let it sit for a week or so. Then I got a rake to remove the heavy patches of dead moss and I also used a string trimmer from Spear and Jackson to remove more blackened dead moss areas especially in the denser blacker and thicker areas. Since I did this – the mowing has become so much easier and the dead moss flies back into the grass collector and the blades not longer struggle to deal with it. Probably not the best technique but it worked for me! Does that help you???

  8. Steve i have just ordered a Spear & Jackson 34cm cordless lawnmower with 2 batteries– £200 from Argos– phoned spear & Jackson about 3 year warranty– was told the batteries are only guaranteed for 6 months– this is a joke surely- thanks James

    • Hi James, I agree with you – it should be a lot longer than 6 months which is disappointing to hear – unfortunately that is the case. To make sure you get the most of it, I suggest taking extra care with it especially when it comes to storing it in a safe and suitable place over the Winter months – even in your own home rather than the garage or shed. Many thanks for sharing your feedback with the wider community in the UK – they will benefit from this…
