Pros for the Bosch 12V 35cm Cordless Hedge Trimmer
- This small hedge trimmer is a perfect option if you want to reduce the level of arm or hand fatigue as it is a seriously lightweight tool weighing less than 2kg which will allow you to hedge trim longer than you would expect.
- There is a nice feel to it, it is well balanced with a comfortable grip and the one thing we really like is its Anti-blocking system which allows continuous trimming where many other models simply get blocked or clogged up.
- Many other cordless hedge trimmers only work for 30 minutes on average but this hedge trimmer from Bosch will work for a longer period of up to 50 minutes long as it includes a specialised Syneon chip to control the level of energy used while trimming thinner or denser hedges.
- You can get an additional 3-year accidental damage replacement care protection for less than £20 with Argos as an extra which is great value for the level of protection you are getting
- You have the option of paying for this with a credit card plan which means you can spread the cost of it over a longer period of time if cash is a little on the low side.
- The 12V battery provided here can be used for other Bosch tools so it’s good to know that the battery is interchangeable and the diamond ground blades give a nice clean precise cut that leave a tidy and professional looking appearance to your hedge.
- As it is cordless, you don’t have to worry about any cords lying around that could end up being cut through by the hedge trimmer itself.
Cons for the Bosch 12V 35cm Cordless Hedge Trimmer
- The length of this hedge trimmer is only 35cm long so you are restricted in terms of length, many other basic models from other brands offer 45cm as their smallest hedge trimmer length and don’t cost near as much.
- The tooth gap is slightly smaller than McGregor and Spear and Jackson models so it really can only cut hedges that are max 1.5cm in thickness and in most cases slightly less than this.
- You are also limited to low lying hedges of on average 1.5 metres in height. Anything higher than this then you should be looking at models that offer longer blade lengths such as the 65cm option outlined below

Part 4: Conclusion and Feedback Submission
Conclusion:
This little 35cm hedge trimmer from Bosch certainly has our vote of confidence. It really does trim the hedges as good as it says but it is limited on the thickness of the stems or bushes to a little less than 1.5cm. Anything beyond that and we found the larger tooth gap options work much better in terms of trimming down the hedges to the desired effect.
We like how the batteries can be used in other tools, the fact that it has the Anti-blocking system which prevents clogging up the blades and it is certainly more powerful and stronger than it looks for a hedge trimmer of this size.
Lower Priced Options
It does cost somewhat more than some of the hedge trimmers that are seen for less than £50 so there are definitely cheaper lower priced options out there but you need to remember that this hedge trimmer does operate for longer than those that tend to operate for just 30 minutes or even less and it has the anti-clogging system and intelligent energy control additional features built in.
Cords
Another thing you will like is the fact that you don’t have any cords to worry about so you can hedge trim with peace of mind without having to worry about cutting through the cord.
Thickness
So, take a look at your own hedge -if you have light trimming to do or have bushes or small branches that are up to 1.5cm in thickness then it will work fine. However, if your hedge is denser and has branches beyond 1.5cm in thickness, then you should choose a model with a wider tooth gap such as the larger options outlined above or even the Bosch AHS 65-34 corded version that offers a 3.4cm tooth gap which has over twice the tooth gap size when compared to the Bosch 12-35.
